Gosling Tennis

Gosling Sports Tennis Centre is the largest tennis facility in the country with seventeen indoor and five outdoor courts.

Gosling Tennis offers everyone "the opportunity to be the best they can be and win on and off the court, now and in the future." The goal was first realised at Wimbledon in 2010 and has been every year since, when Gosling's most committed players have competed in the championships, cheered on by members of its Prince's Trust programme, who had over the previous six weeks held a racket, had lessons and played matches for the very first time.

Tennis Director Matt Willcocks has led the programme for the past eight years. His experience and expertise are unparalleled in British Tennis. His experience ranges from coaching tennis tots and Grand Slam winners to leading teams of coaches and players on the hallowed turf at SW19 to running promotional sessions alongside McEnroe, Henman and Becker.

Gosling Tennis Successes

Increasing opportunity

Gosling Tennis, in conjunction with its partners, offers over £500,000 of investment annually into the development of our most committed players.

It has created an all inclusive membership and programme where people can play everyday for just £.50 a day.

The Centre has partnered with Hertfordshire LTA to provide high performance tennis for mini red players for just £1.60 an hour.

In June 2013 Gosling became a Disability Network site. In conjunction with the Tennis Foundation, LTA and the Prince's Trust Gosling has grown weekly participation on the disability program from 8 to 130 in just five months.

Coaching more players on track for the Top 100

The Centre has a unique infrastructure, development system, team and business model that consistently develops world class players.

The system identifies required improvements in each performance factor and ensures the player is on track to complete the 20,000 training hours required for entry into the top 100.

Gosling tennis has increased the number of players playing three times a week from 8 to 200.

Success includes 8 national individual and team titles, 3 junior grand slam titles, world junior ranking of 2, two Gosling players within the top 5 GB players in ATP points won this year and a Silver medal at the world school championships.

Creating a first class team to develop a world class programme

The Centre has built a first class and highly qualified team of 42. Staff are developed through investment in training and a specifically designed continuing professional development programme.

"Winning a tennis match is simple: get the ball in, with quality, when it matters. The successes have been achieved through the application of a similarly simple approach to realising our vision: understand the challenges, engage people and organisations that share our values and take ownership of their improvement. Integrate best practice, focus all our efforts on the detail of improvement and celebrate every success."

Matt Willcocks, Director of Tennis
